I grew up in New York City, and so I never had a garden until about 4 years ago. But despite being a late bloomer (sorry, I couldn’t resist!), I love growing flowers, fruits and veggies on the Rule Breaker terrace high above Brooklyn. No matter how bad the day has been, watering, deadheading, or getting my hands into the warm soil gives me an instant sense of peace and reconnection to the planet. And there’s nothing like eating a strawberry or tomato that you’ve grown yourself. It sure makes it easier to be a vegan.
