One Bite to Better Digestion
I used to be a speed eater. So even when I was being religious about eating vegan, gluten-free and healthy, I would get indigestion. I know it sounds dopey, but I’d never made the connection that wolfing my food and failing to chew properly was assaulting my stomach. Then I learned that my bad habit could also cause inflammation, poor nutrient absorption, even irritable bowel syndrome. Digestion begins with chewing, and not doing it properly was giving my system more than it could handle.
That’s when I decided to change my chewing ways. Now I chomp every bite until it dissolves completely—that might be 20 or more chews! Yes, it was hard to get used to at first, and I’d often forget. But the benefits—better digestion, really tasting my food, and getting fuller faster so I needed eat less—were immediate and convincing. Give it a try and be amazed.
